TOM LAWRENCE has revealed he made the switch to Rangers to win more trophies.

The former Derby County winger had options as he departed Pride Park this summer, but right from the off, he had his eyes set on a move to Glasgow.

The 28-year-old forward spent the last five seasons in the Sky Bet Championship with the Rams, who are now competing in League One, before opting to join Giovanni Van Bronckhorst’s side.

Lawrence has also been capped 23 times by Wales, and he's now ready to get to work with his new side.

Speaking to Rangers TV, he said: "At the stage of my career I’m at now I want to be winning stuff and Rangers are a massive club. I want to be part of a successful team here.

"The stature of the club. It’s one of the biggest clubs around. I want to win things at my age and they’ve got a great team already and I want to be a part of a great team this season.

"Hopefully I can add goals and assists. I’m a team player and I like to work hard. Overall I want to add to the attacking side of the game and hopefully score quite a few goals.

"It’s massive, you see the run they went on in the Europa League and they were unlucky not to win it in the end. They’re already a great team and I want to add to that and help the team move forward.

"Every player wants to play on the biggest stage and that’s what I want to do moving forward.

"I can’t wait for a full Ibrox. I’ve only played one pre-season game there and there were no fans so I can’t wait for them all to be at Ibrox."
