NATHAN PATTERSON was singled out for major praise as Everton earned a point in a fiercely contested draw with Liverpool.
The Rangers youth graduate starred for Frank Lampard's side in the Merseyside derby clash and earned rave reviews for his performance.
Patterson, 20, is a full Scotland international and is becoming an established Premier League player after being handed an opportunity this season.
The youngster made the move from Ibrox down south in January and had limited minutes last season.
But he now looks to have cemented his spot at right-back for the club after a string of impressive displays so far this season.
And on Match of the Day, Danny Murphy was in awe of the young defender as he branded Patterson a "diamond" as he predicted the full-back to become a fan favourite.
Analysing Patterson's performance against Liverpool, Murphy gushed: "This young lad Nathan Patterson, he seems to have the lot.
"He's only 20, he came in January. Physically, he's very, very good but composed as well.
"Early in the game this is setting his mark, showing the fans what he's about. Win your first 50/50, done.
"Do you have the composure in the game to play forward through the lines and pick nice passes? Yes he did.
"He's got this desire to get forward and have an impact on the game which i think is great.
"Hi defensive work is good, you can see the strength and determination to keep the ball under pressure and a decent ball in the box.
"It's only his sixth Premier League appearance but he looked comfortable. He really looked established.
"Again getting himself in the box and really unlucky with that one.
"The awareness to play round corners and have the courage and freedom to play how he wants to play.
"Every time he is bombing forward he is leaving Diaz, so he's obviously comfortable in doing that.
"I think the fans are going to love him the way he bombs forward and the way he gets a foot in - they love that, the Evertonians.
"Look at him asking for the ball in the box here, you want that confidence in your young players.
"Late in the game do you have the concentration and fitness levels to defend properly one-on-one, yes he does.
"He's a diamond, they really have got themselves a good player in the market there.
"He's a terrific young player."
