ALLY MCCOIST has posted a heartfelt tribute to The Queen following her death on Thursday.

Buckingham Palace confirmed the news with a statement, which read: "The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon.

"The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."

The world has paid their respects following the news and football this weekend in Scotland has been postponed.

McCoist made his own statement on Instagram, saying: "Nearly every day of my playing career at Rangers, I got ready for work under this picture.

"They were the happiest of days and we all loved it. The lady who was Queen Elizabeth II was so much to so many, myself included.

"Thanks for your service to us all."
