Steven Gerrard would be tempted back to Rangers.
That's according to former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell.
The Liverpool legend left Ibrox this time last year as he took over the reins at Aston Villa following Dean Smith's departure.
He lasted just 11-months in the Premier League though. He was sacked in October following a poor start to the season, leaving the Villa Park outfit in the bottom three.
His replacement at Rangers, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, has struggled in his position in recent times too.
After a poor string of results, and various lacklustre performances in both the Premiership and in Europe, the Dutchman has come under intense pressure in the hotseat at Ibrox.
There have been several calls for Van Bronckhorst to be removed from his position.
It did emerge that he would be kept in his job until at least the World Cup break, which commences this weekend following their game against St Mirren.
Should the club opt to make a change with their manager, Campbell reckons Gerrard could be a realistic option, meaning the former England captain would make a stunning return to Rangers.
He told Football Insider: "I think you could say there is potentially unfinished business there [at Rangers] for Steven Gerrard but I do not know.
"I still think Gerrard will get work this end, in the Premier League or even in the Championship. I do think he will get the opportunity to work.
“But, if that does open up at Rangers he might be tempted to go back. He was a revelation at the football club.“
