JAMIE CARRAGHER reckons Michael Beale has made a "huge jump" in leaving QPR to take over at Rangers.
The pundit is not surprised that Beale has made the leap to become a manager in his own right firstly at the London club before his return to Ibrox.
But he has warned that he's taken a major jump to head back to Glasgow and rejoin "huge club" Rangers.
Carragher reckons it was always obvious Beale would go on to become a manager from his time at Liverpool.
And he's not surprised the lure of Rangers proved too good to turn down even if he had been linked with a move to the Premier League.
Beale had been wanted by Wolves but rejected the chance to head to Molineux to remain with QPR.
But he couldn't turn down a return to Rangers having tasted success at the club as a coach under Steven Gerrard.
“It was obvious at some stage he was going to take that step from QPR," Carragher told Sky Sports.
"There was a lot of talk he would move into the Premier League.
"But his ties at Rangers, having worked there, being successful alongside Steven Gerrard at the time.
“It was obvious since being in Liverpool’s academy that Mick Beale has wanted a crack in management.
"A great start at QPR, a big jump to Rangers – a huge club.
"But he has tasted that before. I’m sure he is well aware of how big it is.”
It comes as Steven Davis revealed he was thrilled to work with Beale again as he admitted he's expecting "exciting times" at Ibrox under the new manager.
"It's exciting obviously having worked with him before like a lot of the group," said Davis.
"We know he will be very clear in terms of his ideas and every session will be built around how he wants us to play.
"We're looking forward to it, the first couple of days have been really bright and he's spoken about how he wants the team to look. It's exciting times."
