Ally McCoist couldn't contain his laughter as he reacted to the BBC Match of the Day 'sex noises' prank last night.

BBC apologised to viewers after the prank where a phone was hidden in the studio with the ringtone sounding 'sex noises' which picked up over the broadcast.

Gary Lineker was presenting coverage of the FA Cup match between Liverpool and Wolves when pre-match chat was dominated by noises coming from a phone.

He said: "It's toasty in the studio. It's a bit naughty as well.

"I think it's someone's setting something off on someone's phone."

After the incident, a BBC statement read: “We apologise to any viewers offended during the live coverage of the football this evening. We are investigating how this happened.”

McCoist - much like the pundits and host Lineker - saw the funny side of the prank as he discussed the incident with Laura Woods on talkSPORT.

The Ibrox hero joked: "When I saw the highlights of it, I’m looking at Gary, and I know Danny Murphy is in the studio.

“And I’m thinking to myself, ‘that’s unbelievable. On ITV we only get a cup of tea, they are having the time of there life there. Danny’s having the time of his life!'”

Presenter Woods added: “Is that where all of our taxpayers money goes?”

McCoist then continued: “I think so. At ITV we only get a cup of tea and maybe a sandwich, and they are getting added perks like that, that’s incredible.”

Host Woods then explained the incident to listeners as she detailed the prank which saw a phone hidden and called to set off a 'sex noises' ringtone and disrupt the broadcast.

In his hilarious response to the prank, McCoist added: “Sadly I’ve never heard that!

"I’ve never heard those kind of sounds in my life. The only time I’ve heard that is on the phone!”

He concluded: “Enjoying herself? She was having the time of her life!”

Lineker then revealed that the origin of the noises had been discovered as a phone taped to the back of the set.

Sharing an image of the phone on Twitter, the presenter said: "Well, we found this taped to the back of the set. As sabotage goes it was quite amusing.”
