Former referee Stuart Dougal reckons Willie Collum will not be marked down after the red card he showed to Nicky Clark during the recent clash between Rangers and St Johnstone was overturned.
The ex-whistler feels that Collum and VAR official Nick Walsh made the correct decision despite the Saints winning their appeal.
Clark was shown a straight red after challenging for the ball and catching Ryan Jack on the follow-through.
A claim of wrongful dismissal over the decision was accepted by a judicial panel at Hampden.
However, Dougal feels that Collum will not be sanctioned as he was trying to protect the players on the field.
Speaking to BBC's VARdict, he said: "The review panel is not made up of all referees and ex-referees. Ex-referees can be involved, but you can have ex-players, ex-coaches, some laypeople like sheriffs and lawyers and people with an interest in football.
"From a refereeing perspective, regardless of the overturn...if this happens next week, next month or next year, that will be a red card all day long.
"The reason for that is about protecting the players."

Meanwhile, John Lundstram was pictured leaving Ibrox wearing a moon boot on Saturday.
The Rangers midfielder was forced off in the weekend win over Ross County.
The ex-Sheffield United ace has been a key figure for the Light Blues over the course of the last year.
He had to come off in the first half of the 2-1 win for Michael Beale's side.
It was revealed on Saturday evening that Lundstram had rolled his ankle when attempting to block a shot. Beale said he would be sent for a scan to determine the extent of the damage.
