Rangers striker Danilo has offered a positive update after undergoing a "small surgery" for his head injury.

The Brazilian forward suffered a fractured cheekbone after a head collision with St Johnstone captain Liam Gordon.

Danilo head headed home the opener for his side just seconds before medics rushed onto the pitch to check his condition.

Broadcast cameras picked up swelling on the striker's face and he was subbed off despite protesting that he wanted to play on.

Danilo walked off the pitch alongside Rangers medical staff and was replaced by Abdallah Sima. Gordon too was subbed after the nasty collision with Sam McClelland his replacement.

Now, Danilo has updated fans on his condition and confirmed he has had surgery on the injury and is aiming for a quickfire return to action.

On Instagram, he wrote:ย "๐—ก๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ give in, ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ back down ๐Ÿ”ต๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ!

"A small surgery for my head injury, but Iโ€™m good and I hope to be back on the field as soon as possible.

"Thank you all for the concern and support ๐Ÿ’™."

After the match, Michael Beale had said:ย "It was a great finish from Danny [Danilo] and obviously, with the injury to the two players, the game stopped for a long time.

"Danilo has fractured his cheekbone so we have to see how long he is out.ย He is away (to hospital) and hopefully he will be operated on this evening.

โ€œI just asked the doctor and he gave me the news which is not great news to receive but you could see from the swelling right away that it was a bad one.
