Rangers' next Europa League opponents' manager has launched a scathing attack on his own players and reckons his two-year-old son would defend better than his Aris Limassol stars.

The Ibrox side travel to Cyprus for their next game in the group stages after their win over Real Betis last week.

But Aris' Belarussian boss Aleksey Shpilevsky was furious that his side could only draw 2-2 with rivals Omonoia in the Cypriot League this week, which has also left him with doubts over two players for next week's game.

He said: "If you see their first goal, my two-year-old son would have been able to handle the situation more intelligently.

"There is an unwritten rule in football that if you don't take your chances you will concede goals. I'm very upset that we didn't win.

"Even if you drop your effort by as little as ten per cent, then you haven't done enough. Perhaps it's good we make these mistakes so we learn where to improve.

We now have a derby against Apollon at the weekend and then Rangers and we have to be fully focused to win both games.

"Additionally, two players suffered injuries - Franz Brorsson and Steeve Yago, so we need to assess them ahead of future matches."
