Rangers will hold a final round of interviews for their new manager next week.

And the Rangers Review can reveal that Frank Lampard will not be involved in the closing stages of that process.

Ibrox chief executive James Bisgrove has been overseeing the search for Michael Beale’s successor following his sacking last Sunday night.

Kevin Muscat, Philippe Clement and Pascal Jansen have been linked with the position in recent days.

But former Chelsea boss Lampard will not be heading north of the border as Rangers aim to make an appointment during the international break.

Lampard has featured heavily in the betting since Beale’s departure but he is not in the running to land the top Ibrox job.

Former Light Blues defender Muscat has held talks with Bisgrove, while Jansen appeared to distance himself from a move earlier this week.

In the statement confirming Beale's exit, Ibrox chairman John Bennett said: “I’d like to thank Michael for his dedicated work since he re-joined the club as manager last November.

“It is clear that results have fallen well short of the board’s, Michael’s and our supporters’ expectations.

“The search process for the new manager is already underway.

"I wish Steven Davis and the interim management team every success - they will remain in charge for as long as it takes to make the right appointment.”
