Rangers midfielder Todd Cantwell has opened up on his first meeting with former boss Michael Beale, explaining how the 43-year-old sold the Ibrox club to him.

The Englishman joined the Light Blues in January from Norwich City and detailed the unique way Beale described the move.

He explained the now ex-Rangers manager called it a "beautiful madness". Speaking to The Beautiful Game Podcast, the 24-year-old said: "I chose the footballing option and spoke to Michael and Ross Wilson, who was the sporting director and I had conversations with a bit of back and forward for a couple of weeks.

"And d'you know what, I met the manager in London and I was speaking to him and he was so passionate about football, about Rangers and passionate about me and I didn't have that for a little while.

"It was refreshing for me to have someone go, 'do you know how good you are? Do you actually know how good you are?

"Because for some reason, you don't seem to feel or know that you are that person. You are that person.

"And you know, the money option is lingering around. But it was the football option and I thought, the way he sold Rangers to me is exactly what it is.

"Exactly what he said to me it's going to be, is exactly what it is. It's beautiful but it's a madness and if you enjoy the madness, you'll be beautiful.

"And it was like yeah, it's the right thing to do. So I spoke to him and decided it was the right thing to do and yeah, I signed about two weeks after first contact."
