Rangers legend Graeme Souness is "poised" to return to the club in a consultancy role, it has been reported.
The Ibrox hero who played and managed the club was heavily involved in the recruitment process as Rangers appointed Philippe Clement as their new manager last week.
BBC reporter Chick Young has now reported that Souness will continue as a sounding board and that will likely be confirmed by the club over the next week.
Although Souness' new position will not have an official title, it is understood he will have a say in decisions being made in the football department of the club.
Young explained: "It seems clear now that 32 years after walking out on the club, Graeme Souness is poised to return and walk through the front doors at Ibrox.
"I spoke to him not long before the start of the programme, and he will not be at Ibrox today, but he did confirm to me that he has been offered a post with the club.
"It’s not a daily job, he won’t be moving to Glasgow to resume employment with Rangers.
"He has no title that he can describe but he has agreed to make himself available to Rangers.

"There have been talks about it and there will be further talks this week as I understand it. In fact, he confirmed to me that as a Rangers supporter, he would do everything he could to assist in helping the club, to help in any way.
"I know he was involved in the appointment of Phillipe Clement as the new manager and the quote to me this morning was that he impressed the hirers at Ibrox and "held the room very well".
"I think we’re looking at this as a consultancy role within the football department at Rangers.
"I’m pretty sure that by the time we’re on air this time next Saturday, Rangers will have confirmed that Graeme Souness is making a return to the club."
