James Tavernier has seen first-hand what it takes to be a top Rangers keeper having played in front of Allan McGregor during a peerless season that took the club to the title.
Having lost a legend to retirement, it was always going to be a tough act to follow for whoever came next. So in Jack Butland, Rangers have struck gold.
Widely praised for his steady performances since arriving from Manchester United on a free transfer, the England international has made such an impression he's already part of the squad's influential leadership group.
And Tavernier admits to having been blown away by the 30-year-old's impact.
He said: “Jack has been an unbelievable signing for us. To lose Allan as we did and sign Jack, from day one he’s been such a nice guy, down to earth - but when you need him even on the training pitch, he’s a real animal.
“He wants to perform here. He understands what it takes here. He’s come in from Manchester United, a massive club around the world. He’s been at the highest level so knows where standards needs to be.
“Jack pushes us and in our leadership group, he helps with everything. Every week, we can rely on him and he’s a credit to himself.”
