Graeme Souness has urged Rangers and Celtic to thrash out a deal which allows away fans into the fixture.

The two clubs are reportedly back in discussions after visiting supporters were locked out of the first two fixtures this season.

Rangers are willing to allow 750 Celtic fans into Ibrox but Parkhead chiefs have safety concerns and  would prefer a return to the original allocations.

Souness still views it as the biggest fixture in the world and hopes a compromise can be reached.

Speaking to the Daily Record, he said: "There’s no doubt having an away support improves the atmosphere in the stadiums. I also understand the logistics of getting everything right on the day is not easy.

"I understand why we don’t have away supporters but if we could have a scenario to make it work, it would definitely add to the fixture as a spectacle.

"It’s for all the bodies involved to get together and try to make it work. I’ve heard some people saying it’s a turn off without away fans but I wouldn’t go that far.

"It’s still the biggest derby in the world. It’s a bucket-list match."

Meanwhile,

Rangers will reportedly spend an initial £4.5million to sign Mohamed Diomande.

We revealed the 22-year-old is set to become Philippe Clement's second signing of the January transfer window.

He has agreed terms on a lengthy Ibrox contract and is ready to make the move to Glasgow but travel arrangements have been delayed by Storm Isha.

Airline disruptions halted plans for Diomande to travel to Scotland on Monday - however, the move is not thought to be affected with just a medical to carry out before it is finalised.

Now, reports in Denmark claim Rangers will pay FC Nordsjaelland £4.5m to sign the highly-rated midfielder.

It's claimed - in the biggest trade of the winter in the Danish Super League - that add-ons have also been included in the deal should bonus criteria be met.

BT reports that the initial fee will be 40 kroner, equal to £4.5m or €5.3m, however it could later increase.

The move for Diomande - who primarily operates on the left side of midfield - comes after Abdallah Sima left the Senegal Africa Cup of Nations squad through injury.

The country's football association warned the Brighton player - on loan at Ibrox - could face a long period out. He has left the national team camp to return to Ibrox for further checks and rehab on the injury issue on his left thigh
