Rangers star Mohamed Diomande faces a huge international dilemma after also being called up for Ivory Coast's Under 23s team...as well as Ghana.

The 22-year-old midfielder earned a shock call-up for Ghana at the weekend despite having no family ties to the nation. He holds a Ghanaian passport because he was brought up in the country and attended the Right to Dream Academy.

Ghana's assistant manager Otto Addo was also No.2 at Danish side Nordsjaelland, who Rangers signed him on loan from and he was called up to play against Nigeria and Uganda.

But he's now also been called up by the Ivory Coast's Under 23s team - who he earned one cap against Morocco a year ago - for their friendly against Thierry Henry's France squad at Chateauroux on Friday.

He must now decide which African nation he plays for, although with all games being friendlies, he won't be tied down to either country.

Diomande scored in consecutive games last month for Rangers against St Johnstone and Hearts.

A Ghana national team announcement had explained: 

"Bolivia based David Akologo, Nordsjaellands Ibrahim Osman, France based Nathaniel Adjei, and Diomande Mohammed of Rangers of Scotland have been named in Ghana’s 26-man squad for this month's international friendly against Nigeria and Uganda.

"The quartet and Asante Kotoko's Frederick Asare have earned their debut call ups following exceptional performances with their respective clubs.

"The friendly games scheduled for Marrakech, Morocco marks the beginning of the new era under Otto Addo."
