Sam Lammers lasted just six months into a long-term contract at Rangers this season.
The Dutchman joined FC Utrecht on loan in January as the Ibrox club looked to move on the attacking midfielder after a difficult start to life in Glasgow.
He signed under Michael Beale for a fee of around £3.5m from Serie A side Atalanta, so there were fairly weighty expectations among fans about what the 26-year-old could do for the club.
But things didn't work out, and despite having the chance to work under new boss Philippe Clement, he was moved out on loan in the most recent transfer window.
Now, it seems Lammers has dropped the biggest clue to date that he is willing to cut his losses and leave Rangers on a permanent deal this summer.
He has three goals in 10 starts for Utrecht since moving back to his homeland.
Speaking to Cafe Galgenwaard, he said: "If you ask about my future, I won't be able to answer it. But it seems clear to me that I enjoy it here.
"I am in the right place, yes. The supporters certainly matter to me. I really like to see that appreciation."

Meanwhile, former QPR sporting director Les Ferdinand has admitted the atmosphere turned toxic after Michael Beale's exit for Rangers.
The ex-Ibrox manager was headhunted from QPR after a short stint as manager at the London club.
Ferdinand and QPR chiefs were determined to keep hold of Beale after making an impact behind the scenes and on the pitch at the club.
However, after an approach from Rangers, Beale was keen to return to Glasgow to take the top job at Ibrox.
And Ferdinand has now revealed that Beale's exit led to a "toxic" atmosphere at the club.
