Rangers icon Barry Ferguson believes former boss Michael Beale will have learned a lot from his Ibrox tenure - despite it lasting less than a year.

Beale was axed last October after just 10 months in the job. And he's since had a failed stint at English Championship side, Sunderland - where he managed only 12 games before being fired. 

It's been far from the ideal scenario for the 43-year-old, who claimed "we probably disrupted the group too soon" when explaining why things didn't work out in Glasgow during a rare appearance on the Sky Sports Soccer Special panel today. 

Nine new players joined Rangers in the summer window, including Sam Lammers, a striker that has already been sent out on loan following a difficult start to life at Ibrox. While Jack Butland and Abdallah Sima have both proved shrewd acquisitions. 

Ex-Light Blues captain, Ferguson, heard Beale's comments and reckoned that some of his problems were his own wrong doing such as having a mass overhaul in his first close season - but acknowledged it wasn't all doom and gloom for the Londoner.

He told Go Radio: "He made that choice to change the group and he just couldn't get them to gel together. The difference since the new manager has come in has been night and day. 

"But he did make, if you look back, I mean Jack Butland - brilliant signing on a free transfer, (Abdallah) Sima - good signing. 

"But it just didn't work out, unfortunately that's what happens in football, he's moved on and Rangers have moved on with a new manager in place who's doing right good things."
