Former Ibrox chairman Dave King believes Rangers are heading in the right direction on and off the park thanks to the new faces in the boardroom and the dugout.

King has sat down for an exclusive two-part interview with the Rangers Review's Chris Jack as he discusses watching events in the title race unfold from afar and the impact that John Bennett - a 'smart guy' who he 'trusts completely' - has made as chairman this season. King also backs James Bisgrove to lead the club forward in his role as chief executive officer after labelling him as 'one of the smartest young guys out there'.

King, who stepped down from the board in March 2020 after five years as chairman, is still the largest individual shareholder in RIFC plc. Part one of the interview will be released on Wednesday morning and King said: "I think we have got a board now under the chairmanship of John and a club under the leadership of James that also understands what it is to be Rangers, that there is a Rangers way of doing things."

In part two on Thursday morning, King details his excitement at where Rangers are heading under the guidance of boss Philippe Clement. The Belgian is bidding to add the Premiership title and Scottish Cup to the League Cup that he lifted last year after seeing his Europa League ambitions come to an end against Benfica.

King said: "If we can somehow get over the line this year, and there is no reason why we can’t from here, and actually win the league, then I really pray and hope that we use it as a proper springboard to kick on, which we should have done after 55."
