Rangers manager Philippe Clement believes the much-disputed Dens Park pitch is looking "decent" and is "playable" ahead of their Scottish Premiership meeting with Dundee tonight. 

This is the third attempt at getting the final pre-split clash underway after Dundee's ground was unable to cope with heavy rainfall across Tayside. 

Clement has spoken strongly on the previous postponements and Dundee's inability to host the tie, however he cut a more cheery figure when discussing the topic after it finally got the go-ahead this evening as the blue skies dawned above the stadium.

Speaking to BBC Scotland ahead of the match, the Belgian provided his opinion on the surface. He said: "It looks much better than a few weeks ago, and you see on the sandy spots they also put some green paint. So, that makes it look even better. 

"They decided to play on this pitch and I think it's playable to play football."

"I'm not a groundsman, so I don't know," he added when probed whether the pitch could still cut up during the 90 minutes. 

"But for the moment, it looks I would say, decent."

The sun was finally out for this long-awaited fixture, and Clement quipped: "Yes, it's lovely, and I wish it was like this all the time. And I'm sure that people in Dundee would love that also." 

The Rangers manager has made three changes to take on Tony Docherty's side, with striker Kemar Roofe introduced from the off alongside Abdallah Sima and Fabio Silva. 

Clement explained the reasoning behind his selection - particularly why Cyriel Dessers has dropped down to the bench. 

"Yeah, but he (Dessers) has had to play all the games," he explained. "Danilo is already out for months, we needed Fabio also on the sides because we lacked wingers.

"Kemar was not fit to play more minutes, so Cyriel played almost everything, but it's normal one moment you miss some freshness. 

"Now it's a moment for Kemar to take, and Cyriel will be hungry on the bench if necessary to take minutes, because I don't expect Kemar to be ready for 90 minutes after all the injuries he had this season and the last couple of seasons. 

"So, it's almost making a puzzle and dividing it for sure in a week when we have three games in seven days."
