Rangers' end of season form nosedive must feel like history repeating itself for manager Philippe Clement...the same thing happened to him last term at Monaco.

The Ibrox side dropped another two points at Dens Park in midweek after a goalless draw at Dundee, which followed on from a dismal day in Dingwall where they lost 3-2 to Ross County.

Since beating Kilmarnock at Rugby Park at the end of February to go two points clear of Celtic at the top of the league with ten games to go, they have won just one of their last five league games - against Hibs at home.

Rangers have lost at home to Motherwell and away at County and drawn with Celtic at home and last night in Tayside.

But Belgian boss Clement is no stranger to late season collapses after his experience at Monaco.

A 3-1 win over Lorient in April sent Monaco up to third place in Ligue 1 and in line for a Champions League third qualify round place.

However, Monaco would win just one of their last seven league games that season...and lost five of them.

Clement's side only managed one win at Angers and draw at home to Lille, but lost to Lens, Montpellier and the last three games of the season to Lyon, Rennes and Toulouse.

It saw Monaco drop to sixth place in the league and disastrously for Clement, meant they missed out on European football entirely.

And that would cost Clement his job after a last day 2-1 home defeat to Toulouse.

Monaco axed him two days later and sports director Paul Mitchell said: "It’s a difficult decision to take because Philippe has always given the best of himself and has always acted in a professional way.

"On behalf of the club, I want to thank him for all of his efforts."
