Filip Helander has insisted losing the captain's armband at OB is "not a big deal" but took issue with comments on his performances by the sporting director at his club.

The former Ibrox defender had been made captain at the Danish club after arriving in the summer upon the expiry of his Rangers deal.

However, Helander has now been removed of captaincy duties - even if he remains in the leadership group - with team-mate Bashkim Kadrii given the armband.

The Sweden international hasn't contested the decision and vowed he would continue to contribute to the best of his abilities whether captain or not.

"Well, it is the club's decision," Helander told Bold. "The results have not been so good, and then you will try to change things - for me it is not a big deal. 

"We have a captain group with me, Bashkim (Kadrii), Trybull and Hansen, and I think that Bashkim is a good captain, as he has been at the club for a long time and he knows what it means to people. 

"So for me it's not a big deal, I try to be the same person all the time."

Where Helander did see a problem, though, was in OB football director Björn Wesström's comments.

The club chief suggested it would be difficult for Helander to captain and play in central defence when "he finds it difficult to take responsibility for himself".

In response, Helander commented: "What does it mean to take responsibility for yourself? So for me it's not a big deal. Of course it's an honor to be captain, but it's not something I think about before the game. 

"That you don't take responsibility for yourself, I have a hard time understanding that. I always try to do my best."

OB currently sit third in the relegation group of the Superliga. The club missed out on a top-six spot in the league before the split - putting them ninth overall in the standings.

Helander's club last won on February 16 in a 2-1 win over Viborg with eight winless outings since.
