Sam Lammers has become the first-ever player to score in seven consecutive Eredivisie matches for FC Utrecht.

The Ibrox misfit - who left Rangers on loan in January - has been on a stunning run of form in the Netherlands.

Lammers had previously matched a 40 year old club record by scoring in six straight league outings for Utrecht. But now he has gone one better.

The striker, 26, netted against RKC Waalwijk in a 2-2 draw this weekend to see himself snatch the impressive goalscoring run record for his loan club.

The goal moved Lammers on to nine goals and three assists for the Eredivisie club since joining in January.

At Rangers, Lammers had found the net just twice before being shipped out on loan.

Utrecht are thought to be keen on a permanent move for Lammers in the summer. Boss Ron Jans said of a permanent deal for Lammers:  "I hope Sam stays with us next season too, maybe on loan again.

"From day one, everyone here knew he would be an asset to the club and that's exactly what he has been. He plays good football well and works hard.

"What happens next depends on a number of things. But he knows if he wants to play every week and be appreciated he should stay here.

"Suppose he now goes back and ends up on the bench at Rangers, or elsewhere else where he has to adapt again.

"I say to Sam, stay in the nice warm bath a bit longer!"
