East Kilbride manager Mick Kennedy has revealed the club have received a helping hand from Rangers ahead of the pyramid play-off final.

The Lowland League champions await Bonnyrigg, Clyde or Stranraer in the final for a spot in League Two next season.

East Kilbride had been due to face Buckie Thistle in the semi-final of the pyramid play-off but advanced to the final without having to compete due to their opponents not holding the bronze club licence.

Therefore, East Kilbride were left with a free weekend last weekend and scrambling for a warm-up match in preparation for the two-legged final against whichever club finishes bottom of League Two.

Stranraer are currently bottom of the league on 33 points with Clyde ninth on 35 with one game left to play - Bonnyrigg aren't mathematically safe but boast a considerable goal difference over both Clyde and Stranraer which should see them avoid the play-off.

Now, Kennedy has revealed his East Kilbride side will face Rangers B in a friendly match at the Rangers training ground on Thursday to boost their preparations for the play-off final.

Kennedy told East Kilbride News: "It is difficult to arrange a friendly last minute but Rangers were kind enough to contact us and offer to play us, so it will be a good test for the boys.

"We are playing Rangers B at Murray Park on Thursday night and then we will train Saturday morning.

"I wanted to keep the Saturday afternoons free to give us a chance to look at the two teams we could face.

"We looked at Clyde at the weekend there and we'll go and look at Stranraer this weekend, then we can start preparing for the play-offs.

"We have trained quite intensely so far, but the boys don't need any more motivation than having two games to take the club into the professional leagues for the first time."
