Andy Halliday has blasted Fabio Silva's Rangers celebration as "really poor" and not just for his gesture to silence his critics.

The Wolves loanee fired Rangers level against Kilmarnock on Sunday but faced a backlash for his celebration as he appeared to gesture for people to keep talking amid criticism of his performances since the move to Ibrox.

Silva then turned and lifted the back of his shirt to display his name and number to supporters.

After the celebration stunt, some fans were less than impressed branding his antics "embarrassing".

And former Rangers midfielder Halliday - now at Motherwell - agreed Silva's actions were "laughable" and not only his gesture to critics but also choosing to celebrate in a must-win match.

After scoring, Silva launched into his celebration, whereas Halliday insists the player should have been straight after the ball to get play going again with Rangers needing to win to keep the pressure on Celtic in the title race.

On Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, when asked for his 'howler' of the weekend, Halliday said: "It is almost getting to the point where I feel like I am picking on him but I am going Fabio Silva. I think I gave him it last week for his tap-in when he ended up falling, but I just don't get that celebration at all.

"I think it's needless and it was an equaliser as well - your first thought should be to get the ball back to the spot and get a second. I know it was very close to half-time, but that reaction was really poor. I think as footballers we have our critics, but at times we are our own biggest critics. I don't think Fabio Silva can feel himself that he has done enough over the last few games, so to have a dig at the fans is really poor."

When the incident was raised again during the show, Halliday simply added: "Laughable."
