Rangers keeper Robby McCrorie is poised to quit Ibrox and clinch a move to Kilmarnock.

The 26-year-old had previously informed boss Philippe Clement of his wish to leave his boyhood heroes in order to play first team football and enhance his prospects for club and country. And he will be given that platform at Rugby Park as Derek McInnes gets set to hand him the gloves and a two-year contract.

The Rangers Review understands a deal has been struck between the clubs that will see Rangers benefit from add-ons and a sell-on fee percentage in the future and that McCrorie is likely to put pen-to-paper in the coming days.

McCrorie is currently in Holland with Clement’s squad for a pre-season training camp but he will return to Scotland on Tuesday evening before getting down to business in Ayrshire as he brings an end to his long association with Rangers.

McCrorie had been tipped as a future number one at Ibrox after emerging through the youth ranks and gaining experience during loan spells with the likes of Morton and Livingston. His route to the jersey has been blocked in recent seasons, though, as Allan McGregor’s decision to extend his career and the arrival of Jack Butland last summer have halted his progress and limited his chances.

McCrorie impressed when pitched in on a handful of occasions - including two Old Firm wins at Ibrox - but made just one start last term as Clement gave him a run-out against Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup.

McCrorie will become the sixth departure of the summer as Clement reshapes his squad ahead of the new campaign. Former Motherwell keeper Liam Kelly was signed as McCrorie’s replacement last month, while striker Hamza Igamane became the latest recruit when he completed a long-term switch on Friday.

Rangers will spend the remainder of the week at their base in the Netherlands before supporters get a chance to see them in action during a friendly with Ajax on Saturday. Matches with Manchester United, Birmingham City and Union Berlin are also on the schedule this summer ahead of the new domestic campaign and Champions League qualifiers in the coming weeks.
