Danny Wilson has decided to part ways with Queen's Park after just six months on the Scottish Championship sides books.

The club confirmed today that the 32-year-old defender has opted to trigger a break clause in his 18-month contract, citing "personal circumstances" as the reason behind his departure.

Wilson, who previously played for the likes of Rangers, Liverpool, and Heart of Midlothian, joined Queen's Park in January following a successful six-year stint with the Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer.

During his brief tenure at Mount Florida, the seasoned center-back made 11 starts for the club, including two appearances in the Premier Sports Cup this season.

Despite the short-lived nature of his stay, Queen's Park and Wilson have mutually agreed to terminate his contract early, allowing the player to pursue other opportunities. The club expressed gratitude for Wilson's contributions and wished him well in his future endeavours.

This unexpected move leaves Queen's Park in a position to reevaluate their defensive options as they continue to prepare for another campaign in the Scotland’s second tier.

The Mount Florida-based club have accepted his request to leave and seek pastures new. 

“Danny came in at a time last season when we were short of experience in defence and helped us come through a challenging time,” boss Callum Davidson explained. 

“He has now opted to activate the release clause that was put in for mid-July 2024 and we wish him and his family well.”
