A loan move for Joan Jordan to join Rangers is about to be "unlocked" with a transfer option included.

The Sevilla midfielder, 30, has been linked with a summer switch to Ibrox after he was told he had no future at the La Liga club.

An initial offer was reportedly thrown out by club chiefs who were unwilling to cover a large portion of the player's wages in order to facilitate a move.

Jordan, who has two years left on his Sevilla deal, was keen to force his way back into the Sevilla side but now appears ready to move on after being left in no doubt over his future.

Sporting director Victor Orta explained: "They have been told that they are not part of the project. We respect their contracts, but it is better for them to choose other options.

"The club informed Jordán's representatives of its intention, we thought that his cycle had ended. It has been very clear to him.

"His representative had a meeting with the club and it was clearly stated to him."

Journalist Jose Manuel Garcia has now reported that a deal for Jordan to join Rangers is close.

And he claims the loan switch is set to include a buy option for the player - priced at €5m.

There had been concerns that La Liga and the Spanish Footballers' Association could step in over Jordan's situation after the player was left out of a friendly against Orlando Pirates.

Reports in Spain suggested his situation was being monitored with the decision to leave him out of a pre-season match "one more step in the plan drawn up by the Seville club so that the player leaves before the end of the summer transfer window".

An AFE rule reads: "Not allowing a footballer to participate in a training camp may constitute a serious breach of contract and of his/her rights, as provided for in articles 4.2, sections a and b, and 17.1 of the Workers' Statute; also as established in article 7.4 of Royal Decree 1006/1985, which regulates the employment relationship of professional athletes.”
