Todd Cantwell's Rangers transfer exit is imminent, according to reports in Turkiye.

The Ibrox midfielder had submitted a transfer request this summer as he seeks a new challenge away from Rangers.

Philippe Clement had suggested the door would stay open for Cantwell to challenge for a spot in the Rangers first-team should he change his mind.

However, it's now being claimed Cantwell is close to finalising a move to the Super Lig with Trabzonspor.

Should he complete a switch then he would link up with former team-mates Borna Barisic and John Lundstram who both signed for the club this summer.

The Karadeni Gazete claim Cantwell held positive talks with a club representative in Glasgow with a move to be made official in the near future.

The outlet reported: “According to the information received, a burgundy-blue manager came to Glasgow by private plane the other day to meet with Todd Cantwell.

"The same plane returned to Turkiye a few hours later. The claimants claimed that the meeting was positive and that the Cantwell transfer would be made official in a short time.”

Clement first admitted Cantwell had requested to leave the club last month.

"Todd Cantwell came to me in my office a while ago, and we have a really good relationship so we talked for [a long time], to say that he feels ready for another adventure and challenge," he said.

"I spoke for long with him because I think Rangers is a really good club for him and I wanted to give him time also. That's why in the last couple of weeks I didn't speak about it. But he came back with the same request. I am going to be focused on the guys who in their heads are focused on Rangers."

Asked if Clement was close to joining another club, Clement added: "I'm not sure.

"He has been training with us all the time and played with the second team because of that, we need to focus on the guys who will be here in the next months."
