There’s only a handful of days left in the summer transfer window, with Philippe Clement’s Rangers squad yet to undergo the scale of rebuild many anticipated this summer.
Nine players have arrived at Ibrox since the end of last season including Mohamed Diomande and Oscar Cortes, but as Clement confirmed publicly just last week several who were told to find a new club at the start of the summer remain in the building.

“It's clear for everybody that some players want to go. That some players clearly [were told] months ago before the pre-season started that they would not be part of the project because of circumstances like wages,” the Belgian manager said.
“We need to lower the wages. It was too expensive last season for the club. So that's also one part of the story.”
Rangers’ focus this transfer window has been to reshape the squad’s wage structure which has run out of control in the past two seasons and move away from a short-term approach. There’s also been an emphasis placed on bringing down the average age of a squad that lacked sell-on value last season.
Issues have arisen due to the fact that some of those players told to find a new club over summer remain at Ibrox. Failure to reach the Champions League play-off stage was another blow given the £4million awarded for making it beyond the third-qualifying round.
Cyriel Dessers has knocked back an offer from Atlanta despite the MLS club coming close to meeting Rangers' valuation. Sources suggest Rangers’ stance regarding the forward has remained unchanged this summer. If able to recoup the 4.5million they paid Cremonese for his services aged 29, a move would make sense in line with player-trading intentions.
Dessers’ valuation is unlikely to increase as he nears 30 and despite his struggles during parts of the previous campaign the forward still managed 22 goals and has started this season with three in four starts. The Nigerian striker has attracted interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia, Spain and France but is thought to be keen on staying at Ibrox.

Rangers have held preliminary talks with representatives of Benfica winger Tiago Gouveia, the Rangers Review understands. The 23-year-old looked set to depart the club this summer having struggled to find consistent minutes last season, but scored and assisted from the bench on the opening day of the season during Benfica’s 3-0 win over Casa Pia. Villareal and Anderlecht have also been credited with an interest in the player.
Incoming transfers remain largely dependent on Rangers' ability to move players on in the final days of the window. Ianis Hagi is playing with the B team due to a contract clause which would be triggered by another first-team appearance. The Romanian international is attracting interest from Rapid Bucharest, however, who today sacked former Celtic manager Neil Lennon. Hagi's representatives held talks at the start of summer with Rangers where it emerged a transfer was the best outcome for all parties. Technical director Viorel Moldovan confirmed at a press conference today, unveiling new manager Marius Sumudica: "Ianis Hagi is a player of great value, I think every club wants him."
Meanwhile, Dujon Sterling has picked up an injury - but it won't keep him out of the first team.
Rumours have been spreading like wildfire over social media regarding the former Chelsea man's condition with some suggesting he could miss upcoming games.
However, the Rangers Review understands the wrist injury sustained will have no bearing on his availability to play for Philippe Clement's men. The defender was wearing a cast on his arm against St Johnstone at Hampden on Saturday in the 2-0 Premier Sports Cup win and has trained this week.
