Phillippe Clement has explained his decision to drop James Tavernier from the Rangers starting 11 for their Europa League meeting with Olympiacos.
Tavernier, 33, started against Motherwell as Rangers reached the League Cup Final on Sunday but was replaced by Sterling shortly after the hour.
Sterling has recovered from an injury that disrupted his start to the season and impressed after arriving from the bench alongside Brazilian forward Danilo at Hampden.
Discussing the move to play Sterling in Greece over Tavernier on RangersTV before the game, the Belgian coach said that the decision to change his right-back is simply a case of rotation.
"Dujon came in well, he's in a good period these last two weeks after we solved his injury," he said.
"It's rotation in the squad that way. Like we said before the season Tav won't play all the games, Dujon is pushing so it's an interesting game to see against a winger with a lot of speed, individual actions. Dujon needs to use his qualities there."
Meanwhile, former Rangers star John Lundstram has been savaged by Turkish legend and former international midfielder Sergen Yalcın for his displays for Trabzonspor.
Lundstram quit Ibrox on a free in the summer after three years at Rangers and moved to Turkey, where he's played ten league games for his new club - starting five of them.
But Trabzonspor are struggling in 11th place in the Turkish League and have been heavily criticised.
And TV pundit Yalcın - who played for Istanbul's three main clubs of Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce and played in five major tournaments for Turkey before later going on to manage Besiktas - singled out 30-year-old Lundstram for criticism.
He said: "Trabzonspor has a player John Lundstram. He is a flat midfielder who offers absolutely nothing.
"He's not alone because they have many players like that.
"He does not provide any contribution to the team, he does not make any difference to the team at all.
"He is not good enough for Trabzonspor.
"This is a team who were supposed to be going for the title. They are full of players who are not good enough to do that."
