ALLAN McGREGOR: Called into action on 15 minutes when he gathered a free header from Zagadou from a corner. Had little chance of keeping out Bellingham’s strike from the edge of the penalty box. Cautioned for time-wasting on 79 minutes, the 40-year-old berated Barisic for not giving him an angle to hit. No way of stopping Guerreiro’s strike on 82 minutes that fizzed into the top corner. 7

JAMES TAVERNIER: Played a neat ball into Arfield early on but the former Burnley couldn’t bring the ball under control in the penalty area. Showed tremendous composure to stroke home the penalty on 38 minutes sending Kobel the wrong way in the process. Perfectly weighted corner for Rangers’ second that was met at the near post by Aribo who nodded the ball to the far post for Morelos to tap into an empty net. Caught out a couple of times in the second half but Dortmund weren’t able to capitalise. Still pushing forward late on in the game such was Rangers’ desire for more goals. 8

CONNOR GOLDSON: Should’ve got tighter to Zagadou from a Dortmund corner in the early stages, luckily he failed to capitalise from close range. That aside, he and Bassey were rocks at the back for Rangers albeit his wayward pass allowed Dortmund the opportunity to score their second on 82 minutes. 8

CALVIN BASSEY: A real test for the 22-year-old tonight but he produced a colossal performance alongside Goldson. From the off he looked switched on and composed. He displayed clever defensive nous to almost dummy a clearance that enabled him to knock the ball back to McGregor with Reus hovering in the opening stages. Dealt with Malen well also using his physicality and pace to nullify any potential threat. Belief grew as the match wore on and his lovely lofted pass to Barisic deep in his own half on 29 minutes highlighted a confidence in the young defender. Continued to impress into the second half. 9

BORNA BARISIC: The confidence-hit Croatian was presented with a golden opportunity to open the scoring after being played in by Kent early on but he fired straight at Kobel. Gave the ball away needlessly two minutes later and did so again just before the half-hour mark. Heart in mouth moment when he got wrong side of Reus before managing to hook the ball clear off the line. 7

JOHN LUNDSTRAM: A big night for the Englishman and he showed why Rangers were so keen on bringing him to Ibrox. Took Bellingham out early on when the Dortmund teenager was travelling at speed but he and Jack worked tremendously hard to deny space and dictate proceedings in the midfield. Superb left-footed finish to net Rangers’ third just after half time firing into the corner from the edge of the area after tremendous work by Kent. 8

SCOTT ARFIELD: Industrious display from the 33-year-old, as hard-working as ever and part of the reason for Rangers’ success tonight as he, Jack and Lundstram stifled Dortmund’s midfield. Replaced by Sands on 66 minutes. 7

RYAN JACK: The midfielder was back involved in his first European match since the 3-3 draw with Benfica last season and started brightly, popping the ball about confidently. Won a free-kick after being brought down cynically by Zagadou when powering forward. He and Lundstram worked tirelessly in the engine room to give Rangers a platform to build. Replaced by Kamara on 85 minutes. 8

JOE ARIBO: A quiet start from the Nigerian but his near post glancing header from Tavernier’s corner allowed Morelos a tap-in for 2-0. Grew in confidence from then on. Fizzed a shot wide midway through the second half as Rangers looked for an incredible fifth goal. Put a shift in defensively and can be pleased with his night’s work. Replaced by Ramsey on 85 minutes. 8

RYAN KENT: Superb all-round display from Kent this evening, had the Dortmund defence on toast at times. Played Barisic in on goal early on but the Croatian couldn’t capitalise. Poorly weighted pass as he tried to release Morelos on 18 minutes, if it was timed better the Colombian was in on goal. Filthy control to release Morelos on the stroke of half-time after knocking the ball through the legs of Witsel. Produced a piece of sublime skill to set up Lundstram for goal number three just after half-time, taking out three Dortmund players before laying it off for the former Sheffield United man. 9

ALFREDO MORELOS: A monumental performance from the Colombian. He absolutely loves these nights and he didn’t disappoint after netting two goals either side of half-time and generally rag-dolling a shellshocked Dortmund defence. For his first goal, he showed great striker instinct to burst forward from an Aribo header following a Tavernier corner to tap in from close range. He won the corner himself after forcing a save out of Kobel. Deservedly awarded his second goal of the night by VAR after it was initially flagged for offside, again a terrific finish to find the corner past Kobel. His goals aside, he was a constant pest, chasing lost causes, causing unforced errors. 9
