Rangers have likely relinquished their grip on the Scottish Premiership title after a 2-1 defeat to Celtic at Ibrox.

The Givan side started brilliantly with an Aaron Ramsey goal in the opening minutes but saw Tom Rogic equalise three minutes later.

A Cameron Carter-Vickers goal from a set-piece decided the game three minutes before the end of the first half.

Here are the key talking points from the match.

Breathtaking start stemmed

Rangers started the game with the same aggression that Celtic began in the previous encounter between the two sides. They looked untouchable and grabbed a brilliant opener when Calvin Bassey's superb slide-rule pass unleashed Kent down the flank. The winger drove to the byline and cut back for Aaron Ramsey who blasted past Joe Hart into the corner of the net. It was the perfect start and Ibrox was suddenly even more alive with energy and clamour. Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men continued the onslaught, throwing several good balls into the mixer but they were undone on their rival's first attacking foray. Alan McGregor failed to deal with a 20 year Reo Hatate shot and parried it in front of Rogic who dispatched with ease. It took the wind out of Rangers' sails and slowly Celtic took control, creating a few good chances with Rogic running the show.

Allan McGregor's mixed season continues

The 40-year-old was peerless as he helped lead the team to a 55th title but there's no sugarcoating this term as anything less than mercurial. That continued here and both Celtic goals will have the veteran questioning his involvement. He should have done much better from Reo Hatate's tame shot but parried it straight to the one danger zone in the box in front of Rogic. The second goal highlighted once again the keeper's discomfort in claiming crosses, allowing a flighted ball to reach his six-yard box. And befitting his up and down season he came up with one of the saves of the season from Liel Abada with ten minutes remaining when he somehow tipped his point-blank shot over the bar.

Failure to deal with Rogic

The Australian looked on his way out of Celtic but he's rolled back the years this season. He was bang on it today and nobody in Rangers' midfield got anywhere near close enough. This was addressed somewhat in the second half with Aibo asked to shadow, but a lot of damage had already been done. He continued to drop into dangerous pockets and his output was of much better quality in terms of final ball than his creative Ibrox counterparts. Ryan Jack was largely anonymous in the first half

Bottle disgrace

Sadly, a mindless idiot decided to throw a bottle onto the pitch during the break. Quite what this person was thinking is anyone's guess given it would be a serious danger to both teams. This led to embarrassing scenes as the second half was held up while groundsmen cleared the grass of any danger. This will lead to further unwanted headlines for the club but CCTV in the ground will surely mean the culprit will be both found and barred from Ibrox for life. It would be richly deserved given how dangerous such an action could be to professional players.
