Allan McGregor: Decent save from Hatate’s effort from the edge of the area but he palmed the ball into the path of Rogic who slotted home. Did well to save at the feet of Maeda twice in the first half. Little he could do about Carter-Vickers’ strike before the break, despite going through him, it was struck low and hard from close proximity and should’ve been dealt with by the players in front of him. Incredible save to deny Abada on 81 minutes. 7

James Tavernier: Delivered a teasing free-kick in the opening two minutes and another inviting cross on five minutes that just evaded Kent at the back post as Rangers made a ferocious start to the match. Forced Hart into a relatively comfortable save with a deflected effort but had little joy in an attacking sense. 6

Connor Goldson: Good defensive header over the bar from teasing Jota cross and came to the rescue with a last-ditch challenge to block a shot on goal with McGregor out the picture, took a sore one for his troubles. One of many who were guilty of giving the ball away cheaply. 6

Leon Balogun: Delighted the Ibrox crowd with a well-timed sliding challenge on Maeda on 20 minutes but was at fault for Celtic’s second when he headed Jota’s free-kick back into the danger area. Made a number of timely challenges when needed. 6

Calvin Bassey: Another impressive showing from the 22-year-old. Won a free-kick in the opening seconds with a positive run forward before being bundled to the ground. Superbly weighted pass into the path of Kent to set up Ramsey for the opener on two minutes. Caught wrong side of McGregor who burst into the box in the lead up to Celtic’s equaliser. Dealt well with Jota in the main and was involved in pretty everything going forward down the left-hand side, unfortunately, his crosses into the box rarely found a blue jersey. 7

Ryan Jack: Like many of the Rangers players, he started off positively, dominating the midfield battle but Celtic’s equaliser dented that confidence and he struggled to impose himself on the game, often slowing the play down and running down wrong avenues. Had a claim for a penalty turned down on the hour mark when his ball appeared to strike a Celtic defender on the arm. Scythed down by Giakoumakis on 64 minutes who was eventually shown a yellow card before being subbed. 6

John Lundstram: Positive start from the former Sheffield United man, often cutting out passes and dictating play. Didn’t know much about the ball that came to him in the penalty area for Celtic’s second, before he could react Carter-Vickers had rifled the ball into the back of the net. Was the first player cautioned by Willie Collum for a robust challenge on Giakoumakis that led to the free-kick for the goal. Took three Celtic players out the game with a great turn of pace just inside his own half on 66 minutes in a move that ended with him firing a long-range effort that was saved by Hart. 6

Ryan Kent: Wonderful assist for Ramsey’s opener to send Ibrox into raptures. Good closing down on Hart to force him into booting the ball out of play midway through the first half and shortly after displayed great skill to nutmeg McGregor and beat Hatate with ease before spraying a ball out to Tavernier. Blazed an effort over the bar from the edge of the box on 55 minutes and guilty of poor deliveries into the box on a number of occasions in the second half. 6

Aaron Ramsey: The Juventus loanee was signed to play a big part in these games and he enjoyed a dream start to his Old Firm debut when he connected with a Kent square pass two minutes in before firing past the despairing Hart. The Welshman loves a back heel, there were five counted in the first half and he was neat and tidy when he needed to be, linking up the play. Switched positions with Aribo at half time as Rangers tried to find a way back into the contest. Worked tirelessly. 7

Joe Aribo: A disappointing afternoon for the Nigerian, he linked up well with Ramsey at times but had a habit of winning possession before poor decision-making led him to give the ball away again. Had a penalty claim waved away when he was clattered off the ball when Rangers were on the attack. Almost sold the jerseys just before Celtic’s second when he gave the ball away cheaply but luckily McGregor did well to dive at Maeda’s feet when through on goal. A tactical change at the break saw him move more centrally. Brilliant sliding challenge to win the ball off O’Riley to set up a Rangers attack midway through the second half but it was another jaded display. 5

Kemar Roofe: Lively start from the frontman, making life difficult for the Celtic backline but Rangers struggled to get close to the Jamaican international at times with long balls played up to him simply not coming off. Great drag back to escape Starfelt before being upended by the Swede on 53 minutes but, in the main, the Celtic defender got the better of Roofe. Volleyed over from close range from a Goldson cross on 84 minutes and failed to connect properly with a Bassey cross as he nodded wide on the 90th-minute mark. 6

Substitutes

Scott Arfield: Replaced Jack on 65 minutes and offered his usual injection of energy and bite in midfield. 4

Fashion Sakala: Replaced Ramsey on 65 minutes and forced Hart into a diving save with a left-footed effort 10 minutes later. Was heavily involved in the latter stages as Rangers desperately chased an equaliser but despite threatening his final ball often let him down. 4
