Jon McLaughlin: Perhaps a surprise starter but Giovanni van Bronckhorst stuck with the Scotland stopper as his Scottish Cup keeper. Was on his toes early to gather from the onrushing Maeda and was heavily involved in a lot of Rangers’ play in the first half as they looked to draw Celtic in. Poor concentration and touch from a Bassey pass as the ball trickled behind for a corner. Good commanding goalkeeping to come for cross balls into the penalty area. Unfortunate for Celtic’s opener after Taylor’s strike deflected off Bassey before spinning into the corner. 7

James Tavernier: Caught underneath Jota who headed over on five minutes. Good block from a Jota shot on 10 minutes. Great delivery into the danger area on 20 minutes, nodded behind for a corner. Great tracking back to block an Abada attempt on 23 minutes. Powering run forward on 34 minutes but his ball inside was poor and cut out. Deliveries into the box weren’t good enough in the main but and he had a big say in the equaliser when he drilled the ball into the box for Rangers for Arfield  to curl home. Made some vital blocks in extra time as Celtic looked for openings and struck the post with an angled drive. 7

Connor Goldson: Closed down on a couple of occasions by Maeda as Rangers were inviting pressure and wasn’t too happy with McLaughlin’s distribution on occasion. Booked for cementing Kyogo on the edge of the box on 72 minutes. Terrific diagonal pass to pick out Tavernier to set up the equaliser and he fired over another pinpoint pass to Kent on 82 minutes. Robust and sound defensively. 8

Calvin Bassey: Started well and looked to have the measure of Rogic. His second-half showing was a tad ropey. He almost sold the jerseys with a sloppy bit of play that resulted in a glorious chance for Hatate but the Japanese fluffed his lines. Unfortunate with Taylor’s opener as his shot deflected off him. Tremendous recovery to block Kyogo’s effort on goal in the first half of extra time and he had a huge role in the winning goal after a lung-bursting run forward before a low cross aimed for Sakala struck Starfelt and nestled into the back of the net. The Nigerian hurdled over the advertising hoardings to celebrate with the jubilant Rangers support. 8

Borna Barisic: The Croatian did well defensively although his deliveries were often found wanting. Turned his back for Celtic’s well-worked free-kick that saw them open the scoring. Could’ve been a hero when he nutmegged Ralston and burst into the box but his cutback was the wrong option when he should’ve rifled a shot on goal. Hobbled off with a knock in the second half of extra time. 7

John Lundstram: Bossed the midfield again and was rightly named as the Man of the Match. Set the tone early on with a great sliding challenge on the halfway line. Sent McGregor flying into the air with a full-bloodied but fair tackle. Unlucky not to open the scoring with a superbly struck left-footed curling effort that cannoned off the post in the first half. Clattered through McGregor on 62 minutes and was perhaps fortunate not to be cautioned. Rifled a shot over the crossbar on 72 minutes as Rangers chased an equaliser. 8

Ryan Jack: A decent performance from the Scotland midfielder. He and Lundstram dictated play in the first half but unsurprisingly tired as the match wore on. Rightly booked for a late challenge on Hatate. 6

Joe Aribo: Another disappointing Old Firm performance from the Nigerian. He was rightly awarded the game’s first yellow card for hauling down McGregor, a proper taking one for the team tackle. Had two headers towards goal in the first half, the first of which was easily saved by Hart while the second, on the stroke of half time, was poor execution after being picked out by Wright. Guilty of poor decision making on a number of occasions as he gave the ball away cheaply and struggled to impose himself on the game. 6

Aaron Ramsey: A real pity for the Welshman to hobble off just before the break with what looks like a hamstring injury. He showed great determination early on to set up the first chance of the game but his pass to Kent was under-hit which resulted in his shot being blazed over. Was involved heavily with all that was going forward for Rangers but should’ve done better with a free-kick from just outside the area when he fired way over the bar. Let’s hope his injury isn’t too serious. 6

Ryan Kent: He loves these games and was Rangers’ most threatening outlet. He fired over in the opening stages after an under-hit Ramsey pass. Struck a shot just wide from the edge of the area 10 minutes into the second half. Had the measure of Ralston when he came on, leaving him on his backside at one point. Poor decision making at times, either running into a Celtic player or giving the ball away cheaply. 8

Kemar Roofe: Ran himself into the ground with a tireless display. Fizzed a shot wide from distance in the first half before winning a free kick on the edge of the area with great quick feet. Shown a yellow card for taking out Maeda as Celtic looked to break four minutes into the second half. Good battling and tenacity to win a corner on 69 minutes and had much more of a say than he did in the league game at Ibrox. Will be claiming an assist for Arfield’s goal when he touched Tavernier’s drilled ball before being dispatched with aplomb. Burst through on goal from a Wright pass but Hart was quick off his line to smother at his feet in extra time. 8

Substitutes

Scott Wright: Replaced the injured Ramsey. Energetic start as he burst down the right but Starfelt did well to cover. As we’ve come to expect with Wright, he was direct and full of running but his final ball was often poor although he did play Roofe in with a clever pass in extra time but Hart did well to smother at the feet of the Jamaican international. 7

Steven Davis: Replaced Jack on 74 minutes. Added much-needed composure in the middle of the park. Fired over on 89 minutes as Rangers looked for a late winner. 7

Scott Arfield: Replaced Aribo on 74 minutes. Fantastic finish to level the match as he curled the ball into the corner from Tavernier’s drilled ball into the box. Had the ball in the net on 83 minutes but the offside flag was raised for a prior incident. Tremendous game management to win a free-kick in the dying embers of extra time when Ralston cemented him. 8

Glen Kamara: Replaced Lundstram on midway through the first half of extra time and keep things neat and tidy. 6

Leon Balogun: Replaced the injured Barisic in the second half of extra time and slotted in beside Goldson and was commanding, winning anything that came his way. 5

Fashion Sakala: Replaced Roofe in the second half of extra time and came close with a scissor kick that rattled the top of the crossbar. Slid in to cause Starfelt to put into his own net from Bassey's cross to send the Rangers support wild. 6
