Allan McGregor: Alert to a clever Blackpool free kick on 29 minutes as he came rushing off his line to gather. That aside, he never had a save to make in the opening half. Replaced by McLaughlin at the break. 6

James Tavernier: Thought he had assist number one of the season when he supplied Colak to tap home only for the goal to be ruled out. Decent run out for the skipper before he was replaced shortly after the hour mark. 7

Connor Goldson: Composed and commanding as ever. Dealt with the physicality of Seasiders forward CJ Hamilton well. 7

James Sands: Slotted in beside Goldson at centre half but looked slightly vulnerable in the opening stages as Blackpool managed to get in behind the American on a few occasions. Swapped roles with Goldson on 25 minutes but the switch lasted barely a minute. Looked a tad lightweight when it came to aerial balls although he was comfortable when in possession. 6

Borna Barisic: Who knew the Croatian had such an accomplished right foot? Wonderful goal to fire Rangers ahead on 51 minutes. He did well to dispossess Bowler who tried to haul his shirt back before he caressed the ball into the far corner giving Grimshaw no chance. He suffered a heavy challenge in the first half that left him crumpled in a heap and requiring treatment but he managed to run it off. 8

Ryan Jack: Good to see the 30-year-old back in action following a recent calf injury and the 45-minute run-out will have done him the world of good as he gears up for the campaign kicking off for real in two weeks’ time. 6

John Lundstram: Decent display from the former Sheffield United man although there were one or two misplaced passes but to be expected at this early stage of the season. 6

Glen Kamara: Started the match in a more advanced role as part of an attacking three playing in behind Colak. Threaded a couple of lovely through balls in the first half. An absolutely filthy back heel to send Dougall away for a Blackpool stick of rock on 43 minutes, the sort of turn that’ll be turned into a meme that you’ll never tire of watching. Decent showing from the Finn. 7

Scott Wright: As he did in Portugal, he started brightly, providing Rangers down the right hand side. Tremendous spin to drift past Apter 23 minutes in before being fouled and winning a free kick in a dangerous position. 7

Rangers Review:

Antonio Colak: Sent the huge travelling support into raptures for a brief moment when he tapped home from close range only for the offside flag to rule the goal out on the half-hour mark. Looked good and threatening in spells and linked the play up well. The Croatian was replaced by Middleton late on. 7

Ryan Kent: Looked to have started the match in the number 10 position behind Colak and interchanged with Kamara on occasion in the first half. Took a sore one when Dougall clattered into the back of him but he ran it off. Caught with another heavy challenge 33 minutes in and required treatment. Lovely bit of skill to wrong-foot Apter shortly after the restart. Wonderful dipping effort on the hour mark that Grimshaw tipped over before being replaced by Lawrence. 7

Substitutes

Jon McLaughlin: Replaced McGregor at half-time. Had very little chance with Blackpool's late consolation goal but other than that was fairly untroubled. 6

Scott Arfield: Replaced Kamara at half-time. Not as effective as he can be but the 45-minute run-out will have helped get him up to speed for the season opener in a fortnight. 6

Steven Davis: Replaced Jack at half-time. Tidy free kick that almost resulted in a Souttar goal midway through the second half. Orchestrated play as usual. 7

Adam Devine: Replaced Barisic and looked relatively comfortable in the left-back position. 6

Charlie McCann: Replaced Lundstram and had an immediate impact as he pickpocketed Anderson and won a free kick in a dangerous area. Wonderful finish on the half-volley to double Rangers' lead on 76 minutes. 7

Nikola Katic: Replaced Sands and almost set up Souttar for Rangers’ second when he nodded into the defender’s path from a Davis floated free-kick only for Grimshaw to save. 6

John Souttar: Came on for his Rangers debut as one of a raft of subs just after the hour mark, replacing Goldson. Almost scored instantly when he rifled towards goal from a well-worked free-kick but Grimshaw did well to parry. Looked relatively assured but was furious when Lubala fired in late on. 6

Leon King: Replaced Tavernier and took up position at right-back. 5

Tom Lawrence: Made his Rangers bow, replacing Kent and looked full of energy and neat in possession. Always eager to push on and provide an option as Rangers looked to break. 6

Rabbi Matondo: One of three Rangers debutants when he replaced Wright. Looked bright and lively and boy is he quick. Skipped by players with ease and almost scored on 74 minutes when he burst into the box but fired into the side netting. 7

Glenn Middleton: Replaced Colak late on for a rare run-out. 2
