Tie on a knife edge
PSV certainly lived up to their billing as a very competent side with an impressive performance at Ibrox. They gave Rangers plenty of problems and were more than worthy of the draw on the night. Giovanni van Bronckhorst's men face an uphill battle to qualify but given away goals is no longer a factor, there is still hope. What is clear is they will have to be much better in the Netherlands than they were in Govan tonight if they want to progress to the £30m Champions League promised land.
Set piece pain clear
Van Bronckhorst will be unhappy at the manner of both concessions. The goals from Ibrahim Sangaré and Armando Obispo came from corners and continue a developing trend in recent weeks that has seen the Ibrox club look a touch shaky when defending balls into the box. It's a trait that, allowed to continue, will derail the season and must be looked at closely by the coaching team. James Sands is an excellent squad option and uses the ball well, but he's relatively inexperienced at this level and the team haven't looked as solid in the absence of summer departees Calvin Bassey and Leon Balogun.
Ageless Steven Davis still has it
At 37 he may have reached an age when most of his contemporaries are putting feet up to enjoy the fruits of their endeavours but Steven Davis seems to age like a 1996 Chateau Margaux. His graceful poise in the centre of the pitch defies his advancing years and there is no discernable drop in performance since he returned to Govan in January 2019. He was solid in the engine room against a very good PSV midfield that included talented former Steven Gerrard target Joey Veerman. His pass to release James Tavernier in the build-up to Antonio Colak's first-half goal was exquisite and he's the only midfielder at the club with the vision to execute such a moment of technical wizardry. While his second-half display didn't quite reach the heights of the first, the Northern Irishman can be happy with his efforts.
Colak is the striker Rangers have been crying out for
There were a few concerns about the form of the big Croatian after the 2-0 defeat to USG but his contribution since will surely have silenced the doubters. While his physical heft might suggest a powerful targetman, Colak is much more a fox in the box. Clever with his movement and always pushing onto the last defender, he's a handful for any defence. With four in the last four games, the former Malmo forward is taking the opportunity afforded by the absence of Alfredo Morelos as the Colombian recovers from long-term injury. While you'd still fancy Morelos to start if both are fit, he won't be able to drop his standards for a second with this kind of competition around.
