Allan McGregor: He could’ve been sat in the away stand with the Rangers fans with the amount of work he had to do in the first half. Called into action on 50 minutes to save from van Veen after a poor pass from Tillman. Howler of a mistake as he allowed McKinstry’s curling free kick to fly over his head and into the top corner. 5
James Tavernier: Suggestions the skipper is carrying an injury won’t go away and it was evident again as he struggled to impose himself on the game in an attacking sense and looked to be lacking in belief. He can claim another assist for Tillman’s sensational opener, however. 5
Leon King: Looked composed and pretty comfortable. Fantastic diagonal pass to Kent in the opening stages to set up a chance on goal. Stood up well to van Veen. Booked for a wild challenge on McKinstry in the dying embers. 7
Ben Davies: A welcome starter given fears he had suffered a muscle strain from Wednesday’s defeat to Liverpool. Strolled through the game and rarely looked flustered. 7
Borna Barisic: A nervous start from the Croatian with a number of poorly hit passes. Finally produced a great delivery at the start of the second half but Colak couldn’t direct his header on target. Picked out Lundstram with a well-taken corner for Rangers’ second. 6
John Lundstram: Lacklustre and passive first half from the Scouser. Doubled Rangers’ lead on 69 minutes when his header from a Barisic corner nestled into the far corner with a little help from a van Veen touch. Should've scored his second of the game late on but blazed over with the goal at his mercy. 6
Scott Arfield: Received a caution on 33 minutes in a proper ‘taking one for the team’ challenge following careless play from Lundstram. A relatively poor showing as he and Lundstram lacked any real drive and tempo. Looked every inch a player who’s been asked to go to the well three times in a week. 4
Malik Tillman: Should’ve burst the net when presented with a chance in the Motherwell box early on but blazed over. Went down in the box on 18 minutes following a slight nudge but no penalty was awarded. Forced a save out of Kelly three minutes later but his shot lacked any real power or venom. Dreadful pass five minutes into the second half that led to a great chance for van Veen but fortunately, McGregor saved the day. Broke the deadlock a few minutes later with a Goal of the Season contender as he picked the ball up on the halfway line before bursting through the Motherwell defence and lifting the ball over Kelly. 7
Rabbi Matondo: Preferred to Fashion Sakala on the right-hand flank but did little to justify his inclusion. The Welshman did get to the byline and fire a ball towards Colak on 40 minutes in what was his first real show of intent. Great lung-busting run shortly after Tillman’s opener but ran into trouble in the end. 4
Ryan Kent: Should’ve scored three minutes in when he linked up with Tillman but elected to cut inside onto his right and saw his shot blocked. Poor use of the ball in the final third at times and was guilty of losing possession easily. 4
Antonio Colak: Isolated for large parts of the game as Rangers struggled to get close to the Croatian. Should’ve done better when Barisic picked him out at the start of the second half but he nodded wide. Hooked for Morelos with ten minutes remaining. 5
