Allan McGregor: Beaten by Simeone who fired across him for the opener on 11 minutes and was stranded when he nodded home number two five minutes later. Saved from a Raspadori header on 39 minutes and did well to stop Simeone from claiming his hat-trick with a near post stop early in the second half. Palmed away a Rui strike but the resultant corner saw Ostigard nod past him. 5

James Tavernier: Positive run forward in the opening stages and made a timely block from an Elmas effort shortly after. Failed to cut out the cross for Napoli’s second goal. Beaten too easily in the air by Raspadori as Napoli hunted for a third goal but he nodded wide. Offered more in an attacking sense in the second half and laid the ball on a plate for Colak but he nodded wide. 5

Leon King: A sobering night for the teenager. Caught unawares for Simeone’s second of the night. Launched himself into a crunching 50/50 with Elmas in the second half but hurt himself in the process and was replaced by Barisic. 5

Ben Davies: Was cautioned in the first eight minutes for a heavy challenge on Raspadori that saw him walking on a tightrope from then on. Allowed Simeone to ghost in between him and King for his second goal. Defending reasonably well in the second half. 5

Ridvan Yilmaz: The Turk was perhaps a surprise inclusion given his lack of game time thus far but was looking to get forward when he could. Looked frustrated when he broke through the lines on the 20-minute mark only for Sands to pass the ball backwards. Delivered a wonderful ball across the face of goal in the second half but Morelos failed to tap home. Will be having nightmares about Politano who roasted him on a number of occasions. 6

James Sands: He slotted in beside Lundstram as the pair looked to give Rangers some added protection in front of the back four but was chasing shadows for much of the evening. Moved back to form a back five at times in the second period. Tough night for the American. 5

John Lundstram: Rightly booked for tearing the shirt off of Ndombele near the end of the first half that will see him miss the game with Ajax. The Scouser battled but was simply outclassed by Napoli's slick midfield and slack marking allowed Ostigard to bullet in a header for goal number three. 5

Malik Tillman: The Bayern Munich loanee looked out of his depth at times. Regularly giving the ball away and not being switched on defensively. That being said, a wonderful bit of skill looked to have carved open an opportunity on goal in the first half but his shot was blocked by Kim. Another pretty passive showing. Replaced by Arfield on 68 minutes. 4

Scott Wright: Played a ball into the penalty area in the first half but that aside, he was pretty anonymous and no surprise to see him hooked at the break. 2

Ryan Kent: Good burst of pace in the early stages of the game but struggled from then on. Often taking the wrong option or failing to beat his man. 4

Alfredo Morelos: Preferred to Antonio Colak and the Colombian competed well. He won fouls and looked to feed off whatever scraps he could. He delivered an inviting ball into the box in the first half but there was nobody busting a gut to get on the end of it. Found himself with a chance on goal at the end of the first half but his shot lacked any real venom and was tipped behind for a corner. Saw a volley deflected over as Rangers enjoyed a decent spell just after the hour mark but then somehow managed to miss what looked like a tap-in from a Ridvan cross and was subbed immediately afterwards. 5

Substitutes

Fashion Sakala: The Zambian replaced Wright at halftime. Offered more down the right-hand flank and had a positive run into the box but fluffed his lines. 4

Antonio Colak: The Croatian came on for Morelos and should've scored with a header from a Tavernier free kick but headed wide. 3

Scott Arfield: Replaced Tillman and offered a bit of dig but ultimately failed to impact the game as he would've liked. 3

Borna Barisic: Replaced King late on. 2
