Allan McGregor: Raced out his goal to try and deny Maeda but the Japanese slotted past him following a slack pass from Morelos. He had a big role to play in the equaliser after his long ball forward found Sakala. Little chance with Kyogo's late equaliser. 7
James Tavernier: The skipper is still not his vintage self but he delivered a captain’s performance. That being said, he should’ve been stronger in the tackle to deny Maeda from rushing through on goal. Sent a few teasing crosses into the box with Morelos failing to convert. An absolute belter of a penalty as he rifled the ball into the roof of the net to put Rangers in front and send Ibrox bananas. Took a sore one from a flailing arm of Maeda to the face. 7
Connor Goldson: Looked uncomfortable with Maeda’s pressing which forced an error early on but was solid defensively other than that. He was one of many who gave away possession cheaply at times in the first half. Won several aerial balls when Rangers were under the cosh. Vital challenge on Giakoumakis in the dying embers. 8
Ben Davies: A solid Old Firm debut. Looked assured and was rarely troubled. His passing was crisp in the main also. Rangers look so much more resolute when he and Goldson are at the heart of the backline. 8
Borna Barisic: The Croatian sent a number of deliveries into the box with varying degrees of success in the first half. Was relatively untroubled defensively. 7
John Lundstram: Caught late by O’Riley early on and was sloppy in possession in the lead-up to Celtic’s early opener. That aside, he battled well in the engine room, winning the majority of his duels and providing the energy and drive to power Rangers on. 7
Glen Kamara: Took up position predominately on the left-hand side of the midfield and kept the ball moving as he usually does. Should’ve had an assist to his name when he laid the ball on a plate for Kent only for Hart to touch his shot onto the post. 7
Malik Tillman: Not a vintage display but contributed and worked his socks off. Rangers struggled to get him on the ball as much as he would’ve liked in the first half and had a fresh air swipe just before the break as the hosts chased an equaliser. Should've put the game to bed when laid off by Kent but his shot was blocked by Carter-Vickers. 7
Fashion Sakala: The Zambian was perhaps a surprise inclusion in the starting line-up but was the one player who was busting a gut in the opening stages, chasing lost causes, looking to press and making challenges. Played a pivotal role in turning around the game. Wonderful take from a McGregor ball before setting up Kent for the equaliser. Won a penalty shortly after when he was upended in the box. Gave the Celtic backline a torrid time with his willingness to run at them although his efforts on goal were as rash as ever. No surprise to see him named Man of the Match. 8
Ryan Kent: Given license to roam as we’ve come to witness recently. Forced a save out of Hart in the opening 20 seconds but should’ve equalised when the ball was teed on a plate for him by Kamara after Morelos had latched onto a Hart mistake but his shot was touched onto the post by the Celtic keeper. Fantastic finish to equalise at the start of the second half with a curling right-footed effort nestling into the corner. 7
Alfredo Morelos: An Old Firm of two halves for the Colombian. He was guilty of giving the ball away cheaply which led to Celtic’s opener as Maeda latched onto a slack pass before running through and slotting past McGregor. Almost redeemed himself when he won the ball off Hart which led to a glorious chance for Kent but he failed to convert. Nodded wide from close range on two occasions following Tavernier corners and looked out of sorts in the main. He looked revitalized in the second half. Was enjoyable to see him orchestrating the Ibrox crowd a la Graham Roberts style in the second half. Subbed for Wright for the final 10 minutes. 6
Substitutes
Ryan Jack: Replaced Lundstram on the 70-minute mark and slid in well on Abada seconds after coming on. Failed to clear the danger that lead to Celtic's late equaliser. 3
Scott Wright: Replaced Morelos. The ball squirmed off him and fell to Kyogo for Celtic's equaliser that knocked the stuffing out of Ibrox. Penalised for a foul on Carter-Vickers late on when it appeared he was having his shirt tugged. 2
James Sands: Replaced Tillman late on. 2
