Jon McLaughlin: Preferred over Allan McGregor but didn’t justify his inclusion early on as he was caught in no man's land for Kilmarnock’s opening goal. He had a warning just moments before when he was posted missing as he came for a cross only for Taylor to nod wide. Responded well with two decent saves from Armstrong and Vassell - although you’d expect him to make them. No chance with Wright's volley to set up a grandstand finish. Decent save from Lafferty in the dying embers. 5

James Tavernier: Landed a corner on the head of Goldson as Rangers chased an equaliser but the vice skipper’s attempt was saved. Involved in much of the play down the right-hand side, often taking up an advanced position. Wonderful long ball towards Kent began the move that saw Rangers take the lead. Played a neat ball to Sakala shortly after but the Zambian’s ball across the face wasn’t met by anyone in a mandarin jersey. 7

Connor Goldson: Made a couple of crucial blocks early on the home side put Rangers under pressure but was simply outmuscled for Kilmarnock’s opening goal shortly after. Unlucky when he powered a header on target from a Tavernier corner only for Walker to palm the ball away. Dealt with most aerial balls that came his way and didn't have an awful lot to do in the second half. 7

Ben Davies: Great weighted pass forward to Morelos in the opening seconds and was relatively comfortable for much of the game. It’s highly likely he won’t have played on an artificial surface in his career before but it didn’t pose him any real issues. 7

Borna Barisic: Outmuscled by Taylor from a corner just prior to the opening goal but fortunately the Kilmarnock defender headed wide. Given a tough time by the Armstrong in the first half but the Kilmarnock man lost his head on the hour mark when he sent a forearm smash into the Croatian’s face and was rightly shown a second yellow. Great delivery onto the head of Morelos midway through the second half but the Colombian nodded wide however, El Bufalo would convert shortly after following another floated Barisic cross. Caught on the wrong side of Wright who volleyed past McLaughlin late on. 6

John Lundstram: The Scouser had a lot of the ball but didn’t really do much with it. He did play a lovely weighted pass to Tavernier to cross into the box in the second half. Kept things simple but looks like a man who could be doing with a rest. This is a player who has already shown he can do a lot more and will need to improve in the weeks ahead. 6

Glen Kamara: Involved in much of the play. Sent in a teasing cross near the end of the first half but there were no takers. Had the slippers on in the second half as Rangers dominated proceedings. Prodded and probed with his usual bustle. 7

Scott Arfield: Beaten in the air by Stokes who headed Kilmarnock ahead in the opening stages. Struggled to impose himself on the game. Set up by Tillman late on but couldn't get his shot away. Rangers get more output from him as an impact sub nowadays. 5

Rangers Review: (Image: NQ)

Fashion Sakala: Rangers' real positive outlet in the opening stages, always looking to run forward and commit defenders. Set up Morelos for the equaliser with a terrific spin away from Taylor before firing in a ball across the face of goal for the Colombian to convert. Sent an inviting ball across the face just before the hour mark but there was no one in the vicinity. Faded as the match wore on. 7

Ryan Kent: Caught dallying on the ball by Armstrong as Rangers toiled at the start. Lost possession on a number of occasions but was always looking to create. Curled a shot on goal two minutes before the break but it was right down the keepers’ throat. Played a dreadful pass intended for Sakala at the start of the second half as Rangers looked to break but made amends when his terrific right-footed finish fired them ahead shortly after with the Kilmarnock defence all over the place. Rightly booked for coming through the back of Armstrong. 8

Alfredo Morelos: The Colombian just loves a goal at Rugby Park. Produced a cool finish to level matters midway through the first half when he tapped home from a Sakala cross. Scandalously cautioned by Kevin Clancy for the slightest of nudges on Armstrong. Added an assist to his name five minutes after the restart when he found Kent in the box to rifle Rangers ahead. Linked up play and led the line well. Got on the end of a Barisic delivery midway through the second half but headed wide. It wouldn’t be long until he was celebrating his second of the evening though when he headed past Walker from another Barisic cross. Subbed for Tillman. 8

Substitutes

Malik Tillman: Replaced Morelos and could've wrapped things up with a left-foot strike only for Walker to tip the ball away brilliantly. Played some neat balls into the feet of Arfield and Sands. 5

James Sands: Replaced Kamara late on. Played a give-and-go with Tillman and almost found himself in on goal only for a late challenge to deny the American. 2
