ALLY MCCOIST reckons Rangers will have to be at the top of their game if they want to progress into the play-off round of the Champions League.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst's team are in action against Union Saint Gilloise tonight ahead of the return leg at Ibrox next week.
The group stages of the Champions League are just four games away for the Govan outfit and McCoist is hopeful his former side can get the job done.
“They’re a good side, they ain’t bad,” he told talkSPORT. “I’m telling you right now. They had a good season last year and they've actually had a very, very good pre-season. They beat Feyenoord 4-0.
“We’re missing Ryan Kent as well, which is a big miss for us. I’d take a draw right now if you offered me a draw.”
Both Kent and John Souttar have not travelled to Belgium for Rangers' Champions League opener.
Souttar went off for James Sands in the second half of a difficult debut as Rangers won 2-1 at Livingston on Saturday while Kent went over on his ankle late on. Centre-back Leon King trained with the team on Monday.
New signing Ridvan Yilmaz, a Turkey international left-back, and midfielder Rabbi Matondo, who missed the Livingston game with a knock, were among the group who travelled.
Colombia striker Alfredo Morelos also trained as he continues his recovery from the thigh injury which required surgery last season.
Speaking before training on Monday morning, manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst said: “Rabbi and Ridvan trained with the team (on Sunday).
“We have another session in another couple of hours but we still have some players who are injury doubts. We have to see who is fit but I think Rabbi and Ridvan can travel with us.”
