RANGERS have confirmed that coach Roy Makaay has been absent from recent matches due to a family health issue.
The Dutchman has been missing from Giovanni van Bronckhorst's coaching staff since the Govan outfit's defeat to Ajax in the Champions League.
A club statement read: "Roy Makaay is dealing with a family health issue. We are all supporting him and hope to welcome him back soon."
Makaay has been at some huge clubs throughout his storied career, not least Bayern Munich, but the former striking sensation has been bowled over by the incredible passion he sees from Rangers fans.
"I don't mean it in the wrong way, but I am already used to how many fans are following the team now," he said.
"There are supporters everywhere we go. Of course, it is nice to know you have the backing from your fans, especially in moments when it is tough, as the fans can help you through those moments. We have amazing fans."
