Kris Boyd has urged Rangers to swoop for John Fleck this January window to boost their midfield options.
The former Scotland international is currently plying his trade at Sheffield United but is out of favour at the moment.
Fleck has played just 11 times this season and could be on the look out for a new club in January to find more game time.
Fleck came through the youth ranks at Ibrox and went on to make over 50 appearances for the Govan outfit.
And Boyd reckons an emotional return to Glasgow could be the perfect fit for both parties.
Looking ahead to an important transfer window, Boyd told Sky Sports News: "The obvious one for me would be John Fleck. Michael Beale has spoken about that central midfield area.
"John Fleck has been at Rangers before. He has been brought up in it.
"He is a totally different player now from the one that left Rangers. People like him would be on my radar.
"I wouldn't be rushing in and just grabbing players for the sake of it, especially in January.
"A lot of the time players haven't been playing for their football clubs.
"It is important Rangers do their recruitment properly because this window and the next one are huge and deals need to be done.
"If deals are to be one in January I am sure Michael Beale will want to get them done.
"I think the summer is the most important window because there is an overhaul of the squad needed."
Meanwhile, Michael Beale called on his Rangers players and their fans to keep the Ibrox atmosphere rocking as he took the positives from their draw with Celtic.
“That’s exactly what we want Ibrox to be like – the fans in the stadium excited and up and cheering the team, and the players jump in with that,” Beale told Rangers TV.
“We need to maintain that and we need to have that every single game here because that makes us a much stronger team and a much stronger club when it’s like that. The atmosphere was fantastic.
“I thought it was a good game, two teams went head to head and there was nothing in it. If anything, we should be more clinical and then maybe we go away with the three points.”
