Rangers may have blasted five goals past beleaguered Dundee without reply but Scott Wright insists the team's momentum is only just starting to build.
Three domestic games into the Philippe Clement regime and the Ibrox side have collected nine points, scored 11 goals and conceded just one.
It's an impressive upgrade in qualify of results and performances from under previous manager Michael Beale who was dismissed after a dismal defeat to Aberdeen capped a poor start to the season.
Clement has detailed how he's brought in a new fitness regime with a more individualised approach and Wright pinpoints a key part of that is bringing a constant sense of urgency to the play.
He said: “He just wants us to be intense for the full 90 minutes, 95 or 100, whatever it may be. He wants us to leave it all out there on the pitch.
“All we can do is take it game by game and not get too carried away. It’s about focusing on ourselves. We want momentum, that’s what we want, and we’re starting to build that as a team.
“The manager wants us to be constantly on it, don’t stop until the 90 minutes are over. We are definitely doing that.”
Summer attacking signings Sam Lammers and Cyriel Dessers have struggled to deliver levels commensurate to their combined £8.5m fees. Both scored in Dundee with Dutchman Lammers also providing a perfect assist for his teammate. Wright is in no doubt that both have the quality to win over their doubters.
"The goals show their character. It’s two fantastic goals they’ve scored against Dundee and I’m absolutely delighted for them both. I know they are going to show how good they are.”
The team now heads for Hampden on Sunday and a semi-final clash with Hearts. Wright has a good memories of games against the Edinburgh side at the national stadium having scored the second goal in a 2-0 Scottish Cup final win under Giovanni Van Bronckhorst and he's intent on that continuing come the weekend.
He said: “We were focused on Dundee, we wanted to keep the momentum going and we’ve done that. We have another big game at the weekend. Another Hampden winner? Hopefully, that’s the plan.”
