Alfredo Morelos' agent has revealed the former Rangers striker is in talks with Santos about cancelling his contract at the Brazilian club.
Morelos is in footballing limbo after Pele's old club were relegated for the first time in their 111-year history. He played just 76 minutes for them since joining in August and failed to even score a goal.
He is the club's top earner at £40,000 and is still under contract until August next year. Santos would allow him to leave for nothing to get him off the wage bill, but his agent, Martin Camono, has admitted there are no offers for him.
And they are now in talks to come to an agreement that would release Morelos from his contract.
Camono said: "We are in talks with Santos' sports director Alexandre Gallo to see what is best for Alfredo and for Santos.

"We want to be clear we have had no discussions about wage reductions for Alfredo.
"Santos are obviously going through a difficult time and we want to help anyway we can.
"At the moment, there are no proposals for Alfredo from clubs, but we are looking at different markets so see what would suit Alfredo best. There are many possibilities in the football world and we are working to come up with a solution here."
Reports in Brazil have suggested they would need to pay around £2.3 million to rip up his deal.
The Colombian netted 178 league appearances in total at Rangers, scoring 78 league goals and 124 in all competitions during his six-year spell in Glasgow.
