Philippe Clement has warned Rangers' style against St Mirren will be "less sexy" due to "difficult circumstances".

The Ibrox boss cited strong winds and "not the best of pitches" as he stated his side would have to adapt to their environment to claim victory in Paisley.

And for Clement that could mean limiting stylish periods of play in order to win in the early kick-off on Saturday.

Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of kick-off, Clement said: "A difficult game in difficult circumstances with a lot of wind and not the best of pitches to play good football so we need to adapt in that way.

"We are here with one mission and that is to get three points but it will be less sexy than in other occasions."

On differing challenges in the Scottish Premiership, he added: "I just enjoy playing games and winning. I don't care about styles of other teams or circumstances or whatever. 

"We only have one thought and that is to win games and the nice thing is that challenges are different things, but it is in every competition that, not just Scotland."

Meanwhile, Clement has insisted Rangers must start to sell players for profit as part of a transfer model in order to survive as a club.

He said: “An assessment is made by the whole club, what he is worth now and what he can be worth in the future. So it’s a longer term investment in that way.

“We had a lot of good talks together and I think he’s convinced because of the club, the fans, the project and the way of working and growing as a player. We are aligned about that and it’s now about him showing it in the short term but for sure in long term too.

“It’s crucial (to have a sustainable model) because you cannot survive as a club in Europe, where things are evolving, if you don’t have that model. You need to get players in and after a period of time sell them for profit. 

“You either do that or you need to have an investor who puts crazy money in every year. We are not a club like that so we need to have a transfer model to grow. If you don’t grow you go backwards because there are other teams that are growing in Europe. And in the league also. So you need this model, it’s really clear.”
