Rangers have rejected an approach for keeper Jack Butland and issued a hands off warning to any potential suitors this month.

Butland has been a standout performer at Ibrox since making the move north of the border from Crystal Palace in the summer. And the Rangers Review understands that no offers will be entertained this month.

Boss Philippe Clement is closing in on a deal for winger Oscar Cortes as the Colombian looks to put pen-to-paper on a loan move from RC Lens. Clement has already clinched the signatures of Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande this month.

Reports linking Rabbi Matondo with a return to the Bundesliga are believed to be wide of the mark as Clement finalises his squad for the second half of the campaign. That group will include Butland and Rangers will not accept offers for him before the close of business on Thursday night.

The 30-year-old earned another clean sheet in the win over St Mirren on Saturday and spoke about his eagerness to return to the England squad ahead of the European Championship this summer.

“You can only do what you can do,” Butland said. “I have had my moments, seasons, before where I have been, in my opinion, the best in England.

"All I can do is do what I am doing. I haven’t been in that England squad for a while. If I said it was at the forefront of my mind, no. If it comes, absolutely I would love it.

“Ultimately I have to do the job for Rangers and the fact is that we are playing regularly at the minute, playing in some great competitions, we have got European football to come. So hopefully that is a good platform to continue to showcase that.

“I know they have got a lot of players and a lot of goalkeepers to look at. Knowing the England camp, they don’t leave any stone unturned and if it is something that they are thinking about then they would have done that already.
