Alfredo Morelos has signed a new extended deal at Santos which includes an unusual pay-as-you-score goal bonus in his contract.

The former Rangers striker has yet to play for the Brazilian club this season after their humiliating relegation last season - the first time in their history that Pele's old club had gone down.

Morelos was forced to renegotiate his £40,000-a-week deal to around half that figure with Santos urgently cutting costs.

But to make up the shortfall in his deal, Santos have extended his contract until 2026 instead of the previous one which ended next year.

And he's also had a clause in his contract that sees him getting a bonus of 10,000 Brazilian reals per goal - which converts to around £1,593.

He wasn't able to play for Santos in their Sao Paulo state league games last month until he was registered by signing a new deal, but that's gone through now.

And Santos boss Fabio Carille revealed he could make his season debut tomorrow against Guarani, in Vila Belmiro.

He said: "The expectation is that Alfredo will be with us as soon as possible, It's a question of documentation, but I hope he will be available."

Morelos, who spent seven years at Ibrox, has still to score for the club he signed for in September, in four appearances.
