The pitch debacle which has caused the postponement of Dundee vs Rangers - twice - will see the SPFL hit with a huge bill by Sky Sports, it's been reported.

However, it seems that the league's governing body will be forwarding that straight onto the Dark Blues.

The Scottish Sun states that frustrated chiefs at Sky want to recoup their costs from the previous two late call-offs at Dens. 

The broadcaster twice sent fully-staffed outside units to Tayside and booked commentators and presenters for the Premiership clash. 

And it's claimed that this figure amounts to six figures, roughly around £100,000.

The match between Tony Docherty's side and Philippe Clement's title chasers will take place tonight, finally, at the third attempt.

The game passed a pitch inspection on Tuesday morning, with referee Don Robertson satisfied the surface was playable, and ultimately safe for players.

Aside from the game, the SPFL have opened disciplinary proceedings against Dundee over the handling of their pitch, with a hearing scheduled for Thursday. Sky's claim could feature as part of that meeting, it's said. 

Dundee had to pay St Johnstone to book McDiarmid Park as a back-up for the match, with the SPFL demanding that it would go ahead one way or another tonight.

And as well as that fee, and the bill from Sky, it seems certain that the SPFL will fine the club, while also demanding that they sort out their pitch ahead of next season.

Meanwhile, Clement has warned his Rangers players they will be “in the s***” if they look any further ahead than their rescheduled cinch Premiership fixture against Dundee at Dens Park this evening.

The Ibrox club can still pip Celtic, who they will play at Parkhead on Saturday, May 11, to the Scottish title if they win all six of their remaining league matches despite the loss they suffered at the hands of Ross County in Dingwall last Sunday.
