Rangers' surprise loss to Ross County has exposed their weakness, according to Pat Nevin.

The former Chelsea and Scotland star believes Philippe Clement's side lacks creativity in certain areas of the pitch, ultimately leading to them 'running out of ideas'.

The pundit explained that he noticed the exact same patterns during the first half of Rangers' 3-3 draw with Celtic a week past on Sunday.

"Rangers definitely still have a chance of winning the Scottish Premiership title, it’s still in their hands completely," the 60-year-old told Grosvenor Sport. "After watching the Rangers vs Celtic I didn’t foresee Rangers losing to Ross County, but you can see their weakness now.

"There’s a lack of creativity in certain areas and they kind of ran out of ideas in that defeat which surprised me.

"It was exactly the same in the first half against Celtic, a lack of creativity and minimal ideas before looking much better in the second half.

"But for Rangers they need to beat Dundee and then if they beat Celtic in the final game then they go top again. It’s all in their own hands and they’ve shown under Philippe Clement that they can go on that sort of run.

"They are second favorites, there is no doubt about that. But what does that mean if it can all change in one weekend."

There's a break from the title race this weekend as the Scottish Cup semi-finals take centre stage. 

Celtic face Aberdeen on Saturday, while Rangers take on Hearts on Sunday. And Nevin believes the atmosphere at a potential Old Firm final would be top-notch.

He added: "I always cover the games between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox at Celtic Park and the one thing that's missing is the crowds for the away sides.

"They're amazing atmospheres, but it's not like back in the days when it was a half and half. There is the possibility of a Scottish Cup final between Celtic and Rangers where it will be half and half fans.

"I'm not taking anything away from the two teams that they're playing against in Hearts and Aberdeen, but wouldn’t it be great to see a season that goes down to the wire in the league and then a cup final between them?

"It’s really exciting Scotland, which it hasn't been for a long time and that's great."
